President & CEO
David Cuthbert joined Alteva in 2006 as the Director of Operations, and in August 2010 rose to the position of President and CEO. He has been serving as Chief Operating Officer since August 2011 and was elected to the company’s Board of Directors in December 2011. Previously he was also President of USA Datanet. Mr. Cuthbert has 14 years of broad operational management and leadership experience.
He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a former Naval Special Operations Officer. In this capacity, he led underwater and land bomb disposal teams domestically and abroad. In 2003, Mr. Cuthbert was assigned leadership responsibility for the Navy's leading nuclear weapon casualty response detachment. His process innovation and mission accomplishment record earned him several high level unit and individual awards for leadership. Mr. Cuthbert is active in groups advocating cloud-based unified communications solutions and is a founding member of “The Captains”, a Naval Academy networking group focused on professional development, peer mentorship, and social responsibility. David also serves on the Board of Trustees for the United States Naval Academy Foundation.
Executive Vice President - Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer
Brian Callahan joined the company in August 2012 as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. He joined the company from Expert Global Solutions, Inc., a leading global provider of business process outsourcing services where, since April of 1998, he served in positions of increasing responsibilities including Director of Financial Reporting and Vice President, Financial Reporting, leading up to Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasury. Before joining Expert Global Solutions, Inc. he worked for four years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.
Mr. Callahan holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Drexel University. Mr. Callahan is a member of The Association for Corporate Growth ("ACG") an organization focused on mergers and acquisitions and corporate growth.
William K. Birnie
Executive Vice President - Chief Marketing Officer
William (Bill) Birnie was appointed Chief Marketing Officer in May 2012. Mr. Birnie is responsible for all Marketing, Product Management and Business Development activities for Alteva. Mr. Birnie has extensive experience in the Telecommunications (Wireless & Wired) and Broadband industries in both the Consumer and B2B market segments. Prior to joining Alteva, Mr. Birnie held executive positions with Panasonic, Motorola, Comcast and Lucent Technologies. Mr. Birnie is a graduate of Rutgers University, is active in many Communications Industry associations such as the US Cloud Commission for State & Local Government and holds a patent in wireless communications for enhanced roaming notification.
Executive Vice President - Chief Administrative Officer & Corporate Secretary
Jennifer Brown Alteva group in May 2012. Prior to joining Alteva, Ms. Brown was Senior Vice President - Administration at Human Resources Access Group, Inc., which during her tenure, was the premier originator and servicer of federal and private graduate education loans based in Wilmington, DE. A highly esteemed Chief Administrative Officer with over 20 years of experience, she has also served as Vice President – Human Resources at Graduate Heath Systems - Parkview Hospital, in Philadelphia, PA.
Ms. Brown currently serves on the board of the Delaware Chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting where she holds the position of the Vice President of Corporate Affairs. She serves on the Pennsylvania - New Jersey - Delaware Employee Benefits and Compensation Association where she is a board member and Chair of the Online Learning Committee. Ms. Brown is also an active supporter of human resource professionals, through her memberships in the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group, Philadelphia Human Resource Planning Society, Society of Human Resource Management and Greater Valley Forge Human Resources Association. She has also been a guest speaker on human resource topics at numerous HR professional conferences.
Ms. Brown holds a B.A. degree from Loyola University, Baltimore, MD.
Executive Vice President - Operations
Jay Conn was appointed to Executive Vice President of Operations for Alteva in July 2012. In his current position, he has responsibility for Alteva's day-to-day operations and provides leadership in all segments of Alteva's unified communications business. Mr. Conn joined Alteva in 2012 and brings over 25 years of operational and client services leadership experience in technology and SaaS businesses. Prior to joining Alteva, Mr. Conn served as an independent consultant to start-ups and small technology businesses, providing operational and business process reengineering services. Between 2003 and 2008, Mr. Conn served as the Senior Vice President of Operations for Verid, Inc.,a SaaS provider of identity verification services. Verid was acquired by RSA Securities Inc., a subsidiary of EMC Corp. While at Verid, Mr. Conn was involved in all areas of the business and provided leadership on both strategic and tactical levels while directing general day-to-day business and customer service operations. Prior to joining Verid, Mr. Conn served as the Vice President of Operations and Support Services for Equitrac Corporation, a market leader in intelligent print and cost management solutions. While at Equitrac, Mr. Conn led the global field operations and the customer and technical support organizations. Mr. Conn holds a BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and an MBA from California State University, Long Beach.
Executive Vice President - Chief Network Officer
As Executive Vice President and Chief Network Officer of the company, Mark Marquez is responsible for all network development, including internal and external networks, customer technology selection and implementation, and network technology operations and management. Mr. Marquez has over 15 years of senior project management and enterprise level architecture design in Telecommunications and Network Infrastructure Services. Since 1996, Mr. Marquez has designed, managed, and implemented complex network and telecommunications infrastructures for small, medium, and enterprise companies including Exelon (PECO Energy), GMAC/Berkadia Commercial Mortgage, and MAXIMUS Corporation.
With his leadership and depth of knowledge, he has designed and built a highly efficient and redundant technology infrastructure for Alteva. It is this technology that sets Alteva apart from its competitors. Mr. Marquez is highly regarded within the VoIP Industry as an expert of emerging technologies. He attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
